Inside every box, small but powerful rare-earth (neodymium) magnets sit in the corners on tiny axles, free to spin. The instant two boxes meet, the magnets turn on their own and lock pole-to-pole across the seam — so the boxes connect correctly no matter how you set them down. Bring four together at a corner and all four self-arrange into one locked cluster.
